Feel free to join in; just follow instructions in this email.

Thanks.

You have expressed interest in helping with the Primary Care Informatics Bibliography (PCIB). Based upon our busy lives and input from our last conference call, we have one primary goal, and if able, one secondary goal.

Primary Goal

Develop a categorized list/database of articles covering various aspects Primary Care Informatics covering the years 2000-2005. I have over 1,000 references, but for now I thought we would focus on ~250 from 2003 and 2004. Depending on how it goes, we can go after 2005, and earlier years. It takes about 5 minutes per article to complete the review.

Secondary Goal

I think we should focus on primary goal, but if someone wants to work on this call me and we can share ideas.

Develop an annotated list/database of key articles in Primary Care Informatics that have been reviewed with specific criteria covering the years 2004-2005. {If we finish first goal, we can start on this goal. I thought we could use IMIA scoring tool to evaluate full articles, this takes about 30 minutes/article}

Ideally we would have a more interactive database, but that is beyond my abilities and I think we can do it the old fashion way with good email communication. I have attached a document (checklist) for a process I believe will help accomplish this task in an efficient manner. This is also posted on our PCIWG website.

I have posted the database on the website and ask on a volunteer basis that you select abstracts to review.

I will need you to tell me ASAP as you choose abstracts to review, as I will update the database to indicate which ones are under review allowing others to select other abstracts needing review. I would ask that when you email your chosen abstracts to me also CC the others on the list, in case I am delayed in posting the most up to date information. If I see people signing up for the same articles I will notify you. For instance I have already signed up for or completed the following articles: Reference #s 1-6, 8-12, 149-179. If we each do 20-30 articles (1-3 hours) we can get this first phase done.

When you finish the review and have filled out the appropriate information in the columns on the spreadsheet, just email the file back to me, and I will update the spreadsheet on the AMIA PCIWG site.

Lastly, as you go through the list, please email me any other articles you think should be included. I will give periodic updates on our progress.

I know it seems complicated and I welcome ideas on how to make it simpler.
