Experts agree that the effective integration and use of information at the point of care require a seamless flow between the information’s content, structure, and user interface. Until recently, however, a wide gulf existed between the envisioned promise of the content, the structure of the product, and the process of seamlessly integrating and delivering information at the point of care. The rapid development of dynamic Web-based tools and interfaces has recently offered an unprecedented opportunity to unite the promise with the product, moving from a static to a dynamic platform, around which information can be structured and delivered on a universal scale. This Web-based medium not only bridges the transition from paper to electronic, but effectively provides the tools to enhance, structure, and deliver information within both large information networks and local stand-alone interfaces. This panel will explore and demonstrate the ways in which the Web and Web-based development tools and resources have enhanced the integration of content, structure, and delivery of biomedical information and patient data, using a dynamic structure and portable, wireless user interface. Each of these key areas - content, structure, and delivery - will be discussed within an experiential framework that will enable the practitioner to manage the migration of this technology change.
